Hurricane Nursing School / Student Relief Fund |
|
Established by NSNA Foundation
List of schools and contribution form can be found at the end of this
message.
Over the past four weeks, hurricanes have changed many lives, destroying
towns and cities, and changing the outlook of many people. The lives of many
nursing students have been interrupted by the destruction of nursing
schools, as well as personal losses. There have also been rays of hope
amidst the devastation - nursing students from the Gulf area and beyond have
volunteered at local shelters offering their skills and compassion to
refugees, and nursing schools nationwide have opened their doors to accept
some of the 3,000 plus nursing students and faculty displaced by Hurricane
Katrina alone.
To add to the relief efforts, the Foundation of the National Student Nurses
Association (FNSNA) has established the Hurricane Nursing School/Student
Relief Fund, which will raise funds to rebuild labs and libraries destroyed
by the hurricane and assist nursing students to purchase books, uniforms,
nursing shoes, and other items they need for nursing school. Funds will be
donated to the schools impacted by the devastation for distribution to the
students and/or for use to restore libraries and clinical nursing labs.
Schools impacted by the hurricanes are listed at the end of this e-mail. If
you know of other schools, please let NSNA know.
Individuals as well as chapters may contribute to the fund:
* NSNA school chapters may conduct school-wide fundraising projects
and submit a contribution from the chapter.
* State associations may wish to collect funds at upcoming state
conventions and forward them to the FNSNA for the Relief Fund.
All contributions are tax-deductible. Individual and chapter contributions
will be acknowledged. Individuals contributing to school and state chapter
fund-raising efforts that would like NSNA to acknowledge their individual
contribution for tax purposes, please attach a list with name, mailing
address and amount of donation to the contribution form.
Thank you for helping FNSNA and NSNA support those students and schools in
need. We sincerely appreciate your efforts!
